Ricky Skaggs will be inducted to the GMA Gospel Music Hall of Fame during a ceremony August 14 at the Trinity Music City Auditorium in Hendersonville, Tennessee. Skaggs joins fellow inductees Aretha Franklin, Dallas Holm, The Hoppers, Love Song, and Rex Humbard.
Skaggs was just three years old when he began harmonizing with his mother as she sang gospel songs. His path to stardom has always included gospel.
“For someone who has spent my entire career playing music in the marketplace, not in the church, this is quite an honor,” said Skaggs. “I’ve always loved the Gospel and I sing about it in many different ways. I’ve never seen myself as a Christian artist, just an artist who is a Christian. I’m very grateful for this award.”
