John Harrison, creator of the Tone Tubby hemp-cone speaker, died June 25. He was 59.
Harrison opened in his California shop, A Brown Soun, in 1973, which became known for its speaker reconing and reconditioning. In 2000, he created the Tone Tubby speaker, and through the years offered several speaker models, both for pro-sound applications as well as home and car audio. His clients included notable guitarists such as Carlos Santana, Steve Kimock, Billy Gibbons, Ronnie Montrose, Kirk Hammett, Mark Karan, and others.
Harrison is survived by his son, Joey.
